They don't let you get this close in Hawaii anymore. Really disappointing but they had deaths from people getting to close.Central America here I come!
OMG… I’ve been wanting to do that! I heard about it from a backpacker when I was in South America.
im not sure when these photos were taken, but im lead to believe that since the volcano erupted a few months ago, the path of the lava changed and this isnt the scene you will find at the moment. still, travellers i have talked too that are staying in our hostel in antigua are saying it was awesome nonetheless. when we did it (last year) there were rivers of lava everywhere. a guy cooked a steak over it. there were also a LOT of people there, wasn’t what i would deem as 100% safe. a few years ago i did it too, and there was not one drop of lava. we hiked all the way to the top for a good view, and that was it. if you are coming to guatemala especially to climb pacaya, just be aware that it change instantly. but come to guatemala anyway! its an incredible country!
Haha!! At first I wasn’t sure what they were holding over the fire! That is hilarious! Great shots!

I heard a few weeks ago that a couple people have died there this year. Not from the lava, but from falling down the mountain. It was a great experience, but amazingly dangerous. I was stunned that they let people get that close. Crazy.
We WISH there was lava like this when we were there! We hiked up it after it had erupted and there were no signs of lava, although we were expecting that from talking to other travellers. It was still a great experience anyway! Great photo!
