Kirsty and Poi are a couple that I admire quite a lot. Well, frankly I envy them even more than that. They are traveling the world in their early 20s and doing it as a couple, with a great sense of humor as a bonus. I wish I’d taken their path way back in the day…
They have been traveling through China and SE Asia for the past half-year or so and plan on sticking in that area for the foreseeable future. Hopefully, they will still be there in October, when I get there after finishing up the Ultimate Train Challenge in Vietnam and I can have a few beers with them.
In the meantime, go check out their blog, follow them on Twitter and enjoy their truly original answers to the Lucky 13:
1 – Fill in the blank: I have an irrational fear of ______________.
Poi: Sunbathing – you get burnt and it’s boring, whats the point.
Kirsty: Small confined spaces – ughh I hate them.
2 – What do you most miss from high school?
Poi: My mum’s pack up sandwiches and pocket money, I don’t see why they have to stop because I’m the other side of the planet.
Kirsty: Boy talk. – Poi just doesn’t get how the girly chats are meant to go, football is a no no.
3 – Who is your biggest celebrity crush?
Poi: Katy Perry/the one who looks like her (zoeey deschannel) – maybe it should be the other way round, I’m pretty sure she’s older.
Kirsty: Anyone who has played Doctor Who… seriously, obsessed is an understatement.
4 – Give us your one paragraph obituary as you’d like to have it turn out.
Poi: Although no-one really saw him for most of his life, we know he had a good life spending most of his time swimming in remote locations. Awesome, amazing, handsome, lady-killer and all round super-human he will of course be missed and completely irreplaceable. It’s great how he became a millionaire at 25 too…
Kirsty: Kirsty was an amazing human being when she wasn’t being awesome she was inspiring the world with her brilliant writing. Although she published 47,000 books and starred in 25,000 films, every one of which touched the heart of millions, she remained modest and only took one other job as the face of google.
5 – What particular accomplishment are your parents most proud of you for?
Poi: Doing exactly this travelling – I can be a bum for the rest of my life and they’ll still think I’m great and – if I don’t ask them they can’t tell me otherwise.
Kirsty: Graduating from University.
6 – who is your favorite overweight/large person?
Poi: Mr Blobby! – Saturday night television has never been the same and neither has Noel Edmonds.
Kirsty: Jonah Hill – We seem to have watched a lot of films with him in lately.
7 – festival you most want to go to?
Poi: Benacassim – 9 Day beach party. Good music, sun, sea and beach wear
Kirsty: Glastonbury – one of the orginal and biggest festivals in the UK
8 – if you could be transported to one time/place in history what would it be, and why?
Poi: About a year and a half’s time when I become a millionaire at 25 and then some random important historical moment because that’s what I’m meant to say??
Kirsty: The first time I met Poi so I could get myself the hell outta there!
9 – Superhero you would most want to hang out with for a weekend?
Poi: I recently wrote about this guy called Super Boyfriend, from what I’ve heard he is the best super hero around so….
Kirsty: I like the sound of super boyfriend but for me it would have to be superman so he can fly me around loads of cool places, super boyfriend can’t fly…
10 – You have an unlimited travel budget for 24 hours — tell us what you’d do.
Poi: Pay up front for loads of trips for the next 10 years, go jet skiing, shark diving, sky diving, bungee jumping, then probably have a nap on a flight home for a night out with my friends, getting the hell out of there before my time is up.
Kirsty: Fly first class to Las Vagas, book into the swankiest suite and blow shit loads of money on games I don’t even know how to play
11 — Mom and Dad are never going to read this, so I can finally admit that I lied to them about ____________.
Poi: never lying to them.
Kirsty: Poi being able to provide for and take care of me.
12 — What is your favorite continent?
Poi: Asia – I loooove it here.
Kirsty: Snap.
13 — if I were King/Queen for the day, I would make _______ illegal and publishable by _________.
Poi: dreadlocks – shaven head. They were okay when you saw them once every six months but now everyone has them…
Kirsty: Queue jumpers – a chip in their head which forces them to allow anyone queuing behind them to go in front every time and then bark like a dog, might as well make it more fun?
