I took this video while I was in Ulan Bator, while taking the Trans-Mongolian from Moscow to Beijing. I’d only stopped for a couple days in the capital of Mongolia because the weather was getting cold (it snowed a couple times while I was there) and I didn’t have any warm clothing.
I can’t wait to go back. Mongolia is a beautiful country, which I only got to mostly witness from the train windows. The people are friendly and given better weather, there is a ton of stuff I want to do here.
Here’s a link to another video I took on this night of local Mongolian music.
An interesting combination of what seems to be traditional music with some modern beats.
I love exploring music and dance in cultures where I travel! I would never have thought of putting the words “mongolian” and “hip hop” together.
Neither would I. That night was totally unexpected.
