A Mexican Escape

Mexico is a country that is on many people’s bucket list, and while it may often be included as a part of North America for geographic purposes, it is definitely more Latin American and culturally closer to Central America. The country is famous for the wonderful Mayan sites that are to be found across the region, the excellent cuisine and for the magnificent beaches. The most popular destination of all in Mexico is Cancun, a resort on the Caribbean coast that is famous for a vibrant nightlife, excellent beaches and for being a wonderful holiday destination.

Cancun Beaches

Cancun Beaches

After leaving gloomy old England, hitting the beaches in Cancun is a real joy, with the beautiful fluffy white sand being the perfect playground, and with the Caribbean Ocean it makes it a perfect place to relax. There is no shortage of sunbeds if your preference is to unwind and absorb the beautiful sunshine, while there are also plenty of things to do on the beach too. The shallow waters are perfect for swimming, while there are also scuba diving and snorkeling trips that depart from the beach too.

Yaxchilan Avenue

Night Life In Cancun

The night life in Mexico is one that has to be tried, and with so many people visiting this city in order to enjoy themselves, the range of bars and nightclubs is very good, with a wide range of different music styles and entertainment on offer. The evening will usually start on the beach, with a few drinks from one of the vendors at a beach bar, before then moving into the hotel bars or on to the city itself. The main clubs are all in the Hotel Zone, and if you’re lucky you may catch some world famous DJs spinning some tunes while you are there. For live music, the bars on Yaxchilan Avenue are the best option, and also have some great drinks on offer too.

Cuisine

As you would expect, there is plenty of Mexican cuisine on offer in Cancun, but don’t think that you have to limit yourself when staying here. There is a wide range of different cuisines on offer, and the seafood is particularly good, as so many items are freshly caught in the waters around the city. If you are looking for a restaurant that remains lively into the evening, Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville is a good place to start, while those looking for a more traditional Mexican experience may find the Mayan themed setting at La Habichuela to be just as exciting.
