There are so many beautiful areas in Latin America that you should visit. Creating a bucket list is a good way to remember where you want to go. Here are the countries that should be on your 2018 bucket list.
Brazil
Brazil is a vast country which stretches from the massive Iguazu Falls in the south to the Amazon basin in the north. Rio de Janeiro is popular for the famous Christ the Redeemer statue which stands 30 feet tall and Copacabana, a crescent shaped beach that is a popular destination with both locals and tourists around the clock.
Ilha Grande is known for its winding beaches and stunning scenery. You can visit the Porto de Galinhas which is famous for surfing, snorkelling and crystal clear turquoise water. You can also visit the Fernando de Noronha which is a national marine park and has spectacular scenery. A few other places to visit are the Beach Park, Maracanã, Sambódromo, Guanabara Bay and Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon. These photos by Claudio Edinger provide a fascinating glimpse into Brazil’s cities.
Venezuela
Venezuela is on the northern coast of South America with stunning beaches, colonial architecture and spectacular mountains. You can visit the Margarita Island which is known for its Laguna de la Restinga National park. Visit the capital city of Caracas which has historic cathedrals.
The Canaima National Park is a protected area which has flat topped Tepui Mountains and is also home to the famous Angel Falls. Los Roques Archipelago is a stunning area off the coast filled with coral reefs, sandy beaches and a huge lagoon. There are great accommodations available or you can charter a yacht to explore this stunning area and go snorkelling or scuba diving in the beautiful waters.
Cuba
Cuba is a Caribbean island that has a stunning coastline, crystal clear water and tobacco fields that produce some of the world’s best cigars and the best, and original Cuba Libra — one of my favorite drinks in the world. A holiday to this vibrant island should certainly be on your bucket list, especially if you love salsa music and salsa dancing. Salsa is unavoidable in Cuba, as it is so deeply intertwined with the culture of the area.
There are also plenty of other activities to enjoy; you can visit the Viñales Valley known for its trekking and tobacco farming or visit the Morro Castle that was built in the 16th century. Take time to visit El Capitolio, a stunning National Capitol building and Che Guevara Mausoleum, the resting place of the legendary Che Guevara. There are many examples of spectacular architecture and you can visit José Martí Memorial, Havana Cathedral, Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de La Habana and Castillo de San Pedro de la Roca.
Peru
Peru is the home to a part of the Amazon rainforest and Machu Picchu. Visit the popular Machu Picchu located high in the Andes Mountains. This Incan citadel is known for its dry-stone walls that fuse huge blocks without the use of mortar. Moray is an archaeological site which features concentric terraces. Visit the river canyon named Colca Canyon that is a fantastic area for trekking and bird watching. A few other places to visit in this stunning country are Huayna Picchu, Taquile Island, Paracas National Reserve, Manú National Park and Huascarán National Park.
So many more amazing place we are yet to visit in Latin America! These destinations are a must visit! Thanks for putting up this great post!
All these countries are very beautiful and I want to visit all but for me in the upcoming year is not possible, so when I will get the chances I will definitely going to visit.
Its Amazing..
I just lived in Argentina for a year and a half – that country has to be on the list!! Brazil is incredible, as are Peru (the food! Machu Picchu!) and Cuba, but I didn’t have time to get to Venezuela.
I don’t know. I found the food in Peru weird: https://andreasmoser.blog/2016/09/25/cuy/
I have not visited a single one of these yet, but I am going to Cuba next month! Yay!
You haven’t been to Venezuela recently or watched the news, have you?
